Our relationship with our alumni, friends, and supporters, is of great importance to the university.

This Privacy Notice describes how the university collects, holds, and uses the personal data that we process within this website. The data is processed by the university’s student record system, however, other factors/departments may contribute to the data gathered.

This Privacy Notice should be read in conjunction with any other relevant information the University may provide on how your data is used.

    We may also collect, store and use “special categories” of more sensitive information, but only with your consent and when it is relevant to your relationship with the College. This information may include:

  • Information relating to disability, if it has been provided by you for a specific purpose, such as event planning.
  • Information relating to dietary requirements if it has been provided by you for a specific purpose.

  • How the data is collected?

    Information we collect from you

    Much of the information that we hold is obtained directly from you. The ways we collect your data directly including through contact detail update forms, donation forms, event registrations and in person. If you are a student, or studied at the University, some of your data can be transferred from your student record to the universitys alumni database. Personal data collected from you by other University departments may also be used for Advancement purposes, depending on the circumstances under which it is collected.

    Data Security and retention

    The university is committed to securing your data, in line with the universitys Data Protection policies and relevant legislation. Personal data is held on secure servers and these servers are accessed only by authorised personnel. In the event of a data breach, we will notify you and any applicable regulator, where we are legally obliged.

    On the key personal information will be kept where necessary or until the purpose for collection of the data has been fulfilled.

  • To correct/update the information currently held
  • Request to remove your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Make a complaint to the relevant commissions regarding data protection concerns such as the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.
